Your Windows keys,
still working on the Mac

You do not have to relearn your habits. The shortcuts you use most are connected as they are, and all of this is free.

Shortcuts such as Home and End only change inside text fields. Terminal apps are excluded by default so Ctrl+C still interrupts a process, and you can turn each shortcut on or off.

Behavior may differ in some apps and input environments, and some features need the Accessibility or Input Monitoring permission.

Free

From input switching
to a cat on your desk.

Input switching, Windows shortcuts, the desktop cat and battery alerts are free. KittyKit isn't a tool that remaps your whole keyboard; it lightly solves only what you need.

Windows shortcuts

Turns Ctrl+C, V, X, A, Z, S, F, N, T, W and P into their ⌘ versions, and Ctrl+Y becomes Redo. In text fields Home, End and Ctrl+←/→ work the Windows way; in Finder F2 renames, Enter opens and Delete moves to the Trash; and Alt+F4 closes a window, Ctrl+Shift+Esc opens Force Quit, and you can assign a Hanja key. In Finder you can also cut files with Ctrl+X and move them with Ctrl+V (turn it on in Settings). Terminal apps are excluded by default so Ctrl+C still interrupts a process, and you can turn each shortcut on or off.

Guided, simple setup

Pick a key, pick two input sources, done. No JSON or complicated mapping rules. The first launch walks you through it step by step.

A different pair for each key

Connect each key separately: Shift Space for 3-Set (390)/ABC, Right Command for 2-Set/ABC. The menu bar shows the pair as a pill, and in virtual machines or screen sharing a single language-toggle key press is passed through.

Desktop cat

A 3D cat roams your whole screen, walking, running, jumping, lying down, dozing off and falling asleep. See more below.

Low-battery alerts

Get notified on screen when the battery of your keyboard, mouse or trackpad drops below your threshold (20% by default, adjustable from 5–50%). Earbuds and other connected devices show their charge in one place too.

Conflict diagnostics

When you use it with Karabiner, BetterTouchTool and the like, it checks whether unexpected key events arrive, and you can save a report to send.

Never stores what you type

Sentences, searches and passwords are never stored; only the minimum events needed are processed. The app never sends a diagnostic report by itself.

Pro Tools

For busy windows,
and for a Mac that stays on all day.

The tools below are Pro features. You can preview them in Settings and turn them on with Pro. Pro purchase is coming soon; for now you can use them with the 7-day free trial and a free code (limited-time offer). Input switching and Windows shortcuts stay free.

Standard function keys F1–F12 Pro

One checkbox makes F1–F12 real F keys instead of brightness and volume. Apple keyboards change the same option as System Settings, and external keyboards such as Logitech work once connected. You can also toggle it from the menu bar.

Finder right-click menu Pro

In the Finder right-click menu you can use New Folder, New Text File, Copy Path and Open Terminal Here. You can turn each menu item on or off in Settings.

Window layout Pro

Place windows on the left or right half, fill the screen, center them or send them to the next monitor with shortcuts or the menu. You can change the shortcuts.

Separate scroll direction Pro

Set the scroll direction of the mouse and the trackpad separately, for example traditional for the mouse and natural for the trackpad.

Keep awake Pro

Choose 30 minutes, 1 hour or indefinitely to stop your Mac from sleeping on its own. You can let only the display sleep or keep it going with the lid closed, and a ☀ appears on the cat while it's on.

Focus screen Pro

Keeps only the window you're working in bright and dims the rest of the screen. Adjust the dimming and toggle it with a shortcut.

The Drawer ProNEW

Notes, Clipboard history and Mac-wide file search in one tabbed panel. Open it from a screen corner or the notch, or with ⌃⌥D.

Desktop Cat

A cat lives on your desktop
while you work.

It moves based only on the time since your last input and never reads what you type or what is on screen. You can turn it off or hide it any time in Settings.

Walking cat
Walking & runningRoams up, down and diagonally across the screen. Sometimes it runs.
Jumping cat
JumpingLeaps up to high spots and hops down from low ones.
Cat watching the mouse
Follows the mouseWhen it's sitting and the mouse moves, it looks that way.
Cat lying on its back
Lying downAfter a long time without input, it flops over and relaxes.
Sleeping cat
Dozing & sleepingLeave it longer and it dozes off, then stretches when you type.
Eating cat
Feeding & pettingDouble-click to feed it; click to make it purr.
Hourly time alertOn the hour, the time appears above the cat. If it's asleep, it half-opens its eyes, then dozes off again.
Input language bubbleWhen the input source changes, its name briefly appears above the cat.
Never in your wayClicks pass through the transparent area around the cat to the app below. It hides while the screen is locked or during Focus Screen, and stays still with Reduce Motion or Low Power Mode.
How it works

Three steps are enough.

It uses the input sources already registered in macOS.

1

Choose a switch key

Use Right Command, Right Option, Caps Lock or a shortcut you set yourself.

Shift Space
2

Connect input sources

Pick two of the input sources registered in macOS and bind them into one switching rule.

3-Set (390) ⇄ ABC
3

Use it as usual

A lone key switches the input, and existing combinations like Command+C keep their normal function.

Privacy first

What you type
is not KittyKit's data.

KittyKit is designed to handle only the key state needed to switch input sources. It is not built to store the sentences, searches or passwords you actually type. Features that need Accessibility permission, such as window layout and Windows shortcuts, don't store what you type either, and the cat only uses the time since your last input. It runs as a local app without an account, and the only information that leaves your Mac is the key (code) and Mac identifier when you activate a Pro license or a free code (Privacy Policy, Korean).

Guides

Common Mac setup problems,
answered one by one.

Make Mac input
switching simpler.

You can download KittyKit 0.5.0 (macOS 13 or later, Intel and Apple silicon). Input switching, Windows shortcuts, the desktop cat and battery alerts are free, and Pro tools have a 7-day free trial. With a free code, Pro is free for life on that Mac (limited-time offer). The app is Apple-notarized, so the “unidentified developer” warning no longer appears on first launch. Because it was downloaded from the internet, just click “Open” if macOS asks once whether to open it.
